About Us

The idea for the platform came about after various experiences of the founder and friends while renting properties in London, and other cities in the UK. It was evident that there was an issue of lack of transparency for renters which often led to poor experiences and nasty surprises after signing tenancy agreements, and then hefty exit fees in the event of request for early contract termination. On the side of owners (namely, landlords and letting agencies), there was a lot more insurance in the way of background checks for prospective tenants, as well as deposits.

This highlighted a discrepancy of fairness with regards to the risks both sides take on when entering rental agreements, especially amidst a cost of living crisis. The global conversation also continued to bring forth issues concerning legal living standards, unjust pricing, and lack of accountability and trust within the rental market. Additionally, scarcity of suitable housing in comparison with demand was also contributing to the development of an unbalanced power dynamic.

Our platform was created in an attempt to help tackle these issues. We hope to be able to act as a trusted safeguarding mechanism between the stage in which a prospective renter sees a property advertised (and perhaps schedules a viewing), and the stage when they decide to sign the tenancy agreement. For properties which are upheld to a fair standard, these will get the recognition that they deserve; for those which need improvement, owners will be able to get the feedback required to implement these changes. Consequently, we aim to help re-establish more positive experiences and dialogue between both renters and owners in the rental universe, starting with London.
